Bloggers We Love – Sabrina Jillah

Posted on Tuesday 22nd March 2016

We’d like to introduce Sabrina, a lover of furniture makeovers who blogs at The Mummy Stylist, talking about her makeovers and outfits. Read on to get to know Sabrina a little better and be sure to check out her blog for fun family activities and family fashion fixes.

Introduce us to The Mummy Stylist, how did you get started?

I started The Mummy Stylist in January 2015 as a place to share my furniture makeovers and my little boy's cutie outfits. The blog has now evolved to be more of a lifestyle and pregnancy blog, since I'm now expecting a baby girl in June. So it's about pregnancy, fashion, interiors, family activities as well as promoting our local area of Slough in Berkshire.

How would you describe your style?

My style is totally girly - I love knee-length floaty dresses teamed with leggings, and I always have a flower or a bow in my hair. I go for bright colours and patterns, and I tend to wear comfy shoes or boots - I can't be dealing with heels!

Where do you get your fashion inspiration?

I suppose the inspiration goes way back to when Lily Allen first came out wearing her dresses with trainers, which was 10 years ago! I can't remember ever not wearing dresses, but I think that's where the inspiration came from and now it's just my style.

What is the best part of blogging for you?

I love having somewhere to voice my thoughts and opinions, it's very therapeutic. Being part of the blogging community is amazing, being able to chat to fellow mums across the country - it really feels like we are all going through motherhood together.

Whose style are you currently obsessed with?

I think I am quite obsessed with what Fritha, who blogs at Tigerlilly Quinn, wears - again it's brightly coloured dresses and skirts, and she always looks so cool!

What is your personal experience of shopping for maternity clothes?

Shopping for maternity clothes on the high street is quite difficult, as I've found stores don't really stock the range instore. So I moved to online shopping and have found all the choice is available online, and it's nice to be able to take your time browsing in the comfort of your home. There are lots of maternity clothes that look stylish these days, so I am glad to be pregnant in this decade!

What are your favourite pieces from the bonprix maternity collection?

I have two which I actually included in my Maternity Dress Wishlist post - the Green Polka Dot Maternity Tea Dress and the Maternity Pastel Blue Dotty Dress – both are in the floaty dress style I like, and the colours are really pretty.

If you had to share one piece of maternity fashion advice, what would it be?

Make sure you have some maternity leggings in your wardrobe. They can be worn under dresses and are so comfy. Also have a good fitting maternity bra - it will save you some backache, trust me.

What are you most looking forward to in 2016?

I'm looking forward to starting my maternity leave and then meeting our new baby in June. I can't wait, it's like the start of a new chapter in our family life!
