Bloggers We Love – Petra Robertson

Posted on Thursday 3rd March 2016

We’d like to introduce Petra, who writes over at A Mum Reviews, a place for her to share her thoughts on family and baby products. Find out more about Petra in this interview, and don’t forget to follow her blog for more insight into the world of parenting as well as her opinions on products she’s used.

Introduce us to A Mum Reviews, how did you get started?

I started A Mum Reviews a few months after my first daughter was born. I noticed I was using so many new products for myself and my baby and thought I might as well share my opinions about what I’d used. Reviewing is something that comes really naturally to me and I’ve always been the type to write reviews online. Now I have my own website dedicated to them with some lifestyle blog posts mixed in, too.

How would you describe your style?

Comfortable, artsy and fun. I like to wear clothes that fit me comfortably so that I can move around easily. I love black and grey but mix those colours up with more fun colours like red, orange, blue and green in fun, retro patterns. I usually wear dresses and skirts and actually wear more jeans when I’m pregnant than when I’m not as maternity jeans are so much more comfortable than regular ones! I’m quite laid back when it comes to my clothes and will quickly decide what to wear for most occasions.

Where do you get your fashion inspiration?

Films, TV, blogs, new collections in shops and online. I don’t really follow trends though, I just wear what I like and things that I think suit my style and body type.

What is the best part of blogging for you?

Lots of fun opportunities and a platform to express myself about whatever I want.

Whose style are you currently obsessed with?

I love Natascha McElhone’s character Karen on Californication. Her style on that show is very relaxed but she always looks great. It’s a kind of ‘hippy’ meets ‘rock’n’roll’ chick style and I love it!

What is your personal experience of shopping maternity clothes?

I think it’s quite easy shopping for maternity clothes and that there are a lot of lovely items of clothing to choose from. I have lots of maternity dresses that I wear when I’m not pregnant too because I really like them and the fit works with or without a bump. Items like that are brilliant because then you’re not just buying something to wear for a few months.

What are your favourite pieces from the bonprix maternity collection?

My favourites were the Maternity Fleece Jacket that you can use with your baby in a carrier post-pregnancy, the very cute Maternity Dotty Occasion Dress and the gorgeous Maternity Smart Coat.

If you had to share one piece of maternity fashion advice, what would it be?

Buy things you can use during pregnancy, breastfeeding and beyond.

What are you most looking forward to in 2016?

Meeting our second daughter in May and becoming a family of four. We don’t have any other big plans for this year and will just enjoy a lot of time together as a family.
