Water Saving Denim
When it comes to dyeing clothes, bonprix’s motto is ’less is more’ and that applies to the dyes as well as to the water we use in the process. Dyeing denim usually requires large quantities of water.
By omitting one of the pre-treatment steps, bonprix saves around 15% of water.

ABOUT THE MATERIALS
Cotton
bonprix uses three different types of eco-friendly cotton for its Sustainable Collection
Recycled Cotton
Recycled cotton is taken from production blends or old clothes, which are sorted by colour to avoid having to dye the cotton again. This saves both water and chemicals.Organic Cotton
From the fields to the factories, the production of organic cotton is 100% free of pesticides and fertilisers. bonprix’s certified organic cotton conforms to the Organic Cotton Standards (OCS) and the Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS), guaranteeing environmental and ethical standards.Cotton made in Africa (CmiA)
Another initiative for 100% sustainably produced cotton. Thanks to the programme, over a million smallholder farmers in Africa learn about efficient, eco-friendly cultivation methods. Unlike conventional cotton, no GM seeds or hazardous pesticides are used. CO2 emissions are around 40% less than conventional cotton, and rainwater irrigation saves 2100 litres of water per kilo. Cotton made in Africa produces good quality cotton, as well as improved conditions for farmers.Recycled Polyester
Recycled fibres are made out of existing materials, which saves resources, energy and protects the environment. Did you know that there are eight plastic bottles in every pair of jeans made from recycled polyester? The recycled polyester bonprix uses is made from old PET bottles. They’re collected, cleaned, shredded, melted down and processed into fibres like REPREVE®.
TENCEL™
TENCEL™ lyocell fibres are produced from sustainable wood from sustainable forestry. bonprix’s Sustainable Collection features styles made from 100% TENCEL™ lyocell, as well as some lyocell-linen blends. Lyocell’s soft surface feels cool on skin when it’s warm, while its low-crease properties make garments easy to care for.
The only materials used in its production are water, cellulose and non-hazardous solvents. Plus, some 99% of the solvents are recycled. This closed loop process means TENCEL™ (lyocell) is especially eco-friendly with almost zero waste and low-level emissions.
