The Luckiest Outfit Colours, Styles and Dances on

Strictly Come Dancing Strictly Come Dancing

Strictly Come Dancing is one of the most anticipated TV shows of the year, with viewers backing their favourite celebrities, debating about the best routines and gossiping about who was the best dressed on the night.

But for the superstitious among us, which dresses, and dance routines are the luckiest? Are tassels most likely to get you a 10? Or is dancing the Salsa sure to swing the vote?

Here at bonprix, we’ve analysed 100 outfits from the last 16 season finales, to identify which type of costume is most often crowned the winner, from colour, to embellishment, sleeve length and neckline. We also looked at which dance routines score the highest marks and which celebrity professions are the luckiest.

So, what does the winning combination look like?

THE WINNING COMBINATION

The luckiest outfit choice for female contestants is a short, sleeveless, white dress with a sweetheart neckline, embellished with crystals, sequins and tassels.

While male contestants score highest when wearing a simple black, long sleeve shirt and black trousers combo.

Putting their best foot forward whilst wearing the luckiest outfits, contestants are likely to score highest when performing a Foxtrot.

Below is our interpretation of the winning pairing.

LUCKIEST PROFESSION

We also decided to look into the professions of the celebrity dancers, to see if there was a common trend in the type of celebrity that won the most often. TV presenters made up 25% of the winning cohort whilst musicians made up a further 25%. It’s safe to say that a career in front of the camera will stand you in good stead for Strictly success.

LUCKY ADVANTAGE?

As well as looking into the professional backgrounds of the winning celebrities, we wanted to see if any of the winners had a dancing background prior to going on the show, giving them an ‘unfair advantage’. Whilst most of the celebs didn’t have a dancing background, Alesha Dixon took dance lessons whilst at college and Jay McGuiness attended the Charlotte Hamilton School of Dance in Newark, and then the Midlands Academy of Dance and Drama. Could this have helped them to take the winning title?
