Bloggers We Love – Karen Goodbrand

We’d like to introduce Karen, who blogs at Mission;Style, a place for her creativity and love of fashion. Find out why she's one of the bloggers we love in this interview and don’t forget to also follow her blog for more fashion inspiration and her maternity journey this spring.

Introduce us to Mission;Style, how did you get started?

I started Mission;Style in 2013. It started as my outlet to talk fashion, daily outfits, latest buys and the ever growing obsessions with shoes and bags. More so, it was a new hobby for me; somewhere to be creative, to talk about my passions and to boost my self-confidence again.

How would you describe your style?

My style is fairly classic with a modern twist where I’ll give a nod to my favourite trends. I don’t tend to completely follow every trend. I’ve learnt to work out what suits me and I stick to that formula as much as I can. Usually you’ll find me in heels, outfits usually start with footwear first for me. That said, as the pregnancy progresses, the flats and sneaks are becoming firm favourites!

Where do you get your fashion inspiration?

“Everywhere! I love social media for style inspiration - Pinterest/Instagram and then reading and discovering other fashion bloggers too. I’m always looking at what people wear, how shop windows are dressed, colour palettes etc. Inspiration is everywhere!

What is the best part of blogging for you?

I love the community - I have met some amazing people and made some great friends too both through Mission;Style, other blogs and also social media associated with Mission;Style.

Whose style are you currently obsessed with?

I don’t have one particular style inspiration at the moment, I’m finding my own style is constantly evolving as the bump gets bigger and I’m just learning to wear what works for me.

What is your personal experience of shopping maternity clothes?

It’s limited. It’s pretty much online shopping if you want any kind of choice at all and then you have to order 2-3 sizes as you’ve no idea what will fit! I’ve found a few key pieces that work in maternity lines and then the rest, I’ve just gone up a size or two in standard ranges. It doesn’t help that I’m petite; the maternity range practically disappears at this point. I’ve spent less on clothes and more on tailoring. After all, there’s no excuse for ill-fitting clothes.

What are your favourite pieces from the bonprix maternity collection?

The trend piece I’d pick from the latest bonprix range is the maternity dungarees. Turn them up, and put some statement heels with them!

If you had to share one piece of maternity fashion advice, what would it be?

Dare I say, right now at 21 weeks, stay comfortable! However, the fit is still important. Maternity wear doesn’t mean hiding under loads of baggy material, you’ll look so much better in well-fitting clothes.

What are you most looking forward to in 2016?

The arrival of our baby and then learning to be parents and all the incredible experiences that come with it.
